At Garden of Light, we offer a competitive and flexible fee structure in line with professional McKenzie Friend services across the UK. We believe cost should never be a barrier to accessing support on your journey.
We often assist parents on a voluntary basis for initial consultations and minor matters. For more involved services requiring time, effort, and legal expertise, fees apply.
We offer fixed fee, pay-as-you-go, and ad hoc packages, tailored to your needs and budget. Monthly payment plans are available.
Note: Our fees do not include court application fees.

How We Classify Case Fees
We use a 3-tier system to assess and quote your case:
Non-complex / Semi-complex / Complex
Most cases fall within the semi-complex range. Fees are based on an initial discovery session.
Non-Complex Case
Cover full case management of consent orders for children or financial matters, guidance through mediation.
Case management includes planning sessions, strategizing, unlimited phone access, handling all documentation, preparation/training for mediation sessions, drafting statements or consent orders, managing all your communications with the other party, handholding you through the consented court order process, and divorce, along with drafting children arrangement parenting plans.
Your Mckenzie friend will be able to work with you to establish the fee for your case and set up payment plans if needed.
Ranges from £800 to £1,200
Semi-complex case
Covers full case management of disputed family court proceedings, from children’s arrangements: Child contact and residence disputes, Prohibited steps and specific issue orders, Relocation (domestic and international), Child abduction (Hague Convention cases), shared care arrangements, Parental responsibility disputes, Enforcement, non-molestation or occupation applications.
To financial remedy proceedings – Settlement on division of assets (property, savings, pensions, etc.), Spousal maintenance, clean break orders, financial consent orders, Enforcement of financial orders, High net worth divorce settlement, child maintenance, schedule 1 application.
Case management includes planning sessions, strategizing, unlimited phone access, handling all documentation, preparation/training for Cafcass, Social worker sessions and assessments, From E, disclosure, financial Analytics, offer preparation, Support with Evidence & Bundles, In-person or Remote court attendance Support (UK-wide), coaching for trial-based hearings, outreach legal expert such Family law direct assess barrister.
Ranges from £1,500 to £2,500
Complex case
Covers full case management of disputed complex family court proceedings, from children’s arrangements: Residence disputes, domestic abuse safeguarding matters, Relocation (domestic and international), Child abduction (Hague Convention cases), shared care arrangements, Guidance for Urgent or Emergency Applications
To financial remedy proceedings – Enforcement of financial orders, High net worth divorce settlement, multiple properties, business valuation, undercovering undisclosed assets, financial Analytics, future protection of assets, land disputes of unmarried couples
Case management includes planning sessions, strategizing, unlimited phone access, handling all documentation, preparation/training for Cafcass, Social worker sessions and assessments, coaching, From E, disclosure, financial Analytics, offer preparation, Support with Evidence & Bundles, In-person or Remote court attendance Support (UK-wide), coaching for trial-based hearings, outreach legal expert such Family law direct assess barrister, etc.

Hd - Hoc Services
Garden of Light understands some parents might require our assistance and support on an ad-hoc basis; therefore, away from fixed fee case management packages, we offer the option of ad-hoc pay-as-you-go fees for the following services.

LIP - Court Coaching
We understand some parents are already signed up to use a solicitor or are in different stages in their case.
Most solicitors and barristers do not provide intense training that gives you insight and knowledge on how to deal with cross-examination-based hearings, Cafcass, Social worker sessions, and assessments in line with matters in your case BUT we do!
The coaching sessions vary from £200 to £400, depending on the complexity of the case and your needs.
